Ketchup On Love
Your mother is retarded, her husband told me as he started his car in The South Bronx.
I was a 10-year old stunned by an adult that made a remark
like a bully in a schoolyard.
I looked out the window to see abandoned buildings and
Swastikas on a gang with Doberman Pinchers dissolve to a supermarket in a
better house and garden neighborhood of The Brady Bunch as seen on TV.
He was doing the shopping because she couldn’t work within
budget.
He needed to save money for his 3-week vacation with his
mistress in Puerto Rico.
He left us every summer. And I went where he wouldn’t let me
travel beyond Star Trek.
Here’s Johnny.

Danny's Film Review
IDanny’s Film Review
Hermosa is a film on the fantasy some people have on the world of spies.
It’s starts off wonderfully with beautiful women crazy about a super spy from
Spain code named Senor Swanky. Miriam Colon (who was honored by President Obama
at The Kennedy Center along with George Lucas and others) is great in her role
as director of Spain’s version of The CIA.
She orders Swanky to steal plans for a new kind of super computer. He
gets caught and is beaten badly by the CIA, NSA and other intelligence
agencies. He spends years in a super maximum federal prison where the inmates
beat him too. Long film short, the fantasy of spying is bitch slapped by Harsh
Reality. There are gruesome scenes of torture that would give Spy Kids
nightmares and years of therapy.
Just when I was about to scream for my money back, the film delivers a
knock out twist ending that is sure to stun the audience as David Bowie sings
This Is Not America into the fabric of this truly Avant Garde masterpiece. I
really want to tell you everything but I can’t (which is a line from the movie
actually)
I predict Hermosa will win a Golden Globe and an Oscar in the end.
Go see it with German Chancellor what’s – her- name.
She will thank you with schnapps before Q & A begins.
This film has been rated 5 Wire Taps.

Welcome to The Village south of the Bronx border.
The new landlords, members of The Hasidim, after much
banging on our door finally broke me when they offered a first floor renovated
apartment on the other side of the building where they had succeeded on
concentrating a majority of long time tenants in The South Bronx of America.
The rest of the building was for homeless families.
Poor and unemployed people were taken out of shelters thanks
to the kindness of taxpayers paying $2,800 monthly per family unit. The windows lit with Christmas lights became
brighter as the courtyard became alive with the laugher of African-American and
Hispanic children playing in the snowstorm.
New York City, you are awesome.
As I type, I got you under my skin, Old Eyes Blue sings from
my Win98 Media Player
Hasidim shook hands after promising me a lease, a new stove
and new refrigerator.
After I was given the keys to the mailbox of the apartment,
it was off to the post office for a change of address. Finally we can get
regular mail service instead of waiting for the female Puerto Rican letter
carrier with the dragon tattoos on her legs.
A short heavyset Mexican woman in the building politely
asked me if I had moved into the apartment yet. Not until they deliver the
lease, the stove and fridge, I said with the upbeat smile of a hopeless
romantic like Paul Newman in Fort Apache, The Bronx.
One day, I went to get my mail and was confused when the key
wouldn’t go into the lock. I went upstairs to the apartment and knocked on the
door. The Mexican woman said the apartment was now theirs. The Mexicans got the
lease and the stove and the refrigerator.
Do you have my mail?
She closed the door.
Old Blue Eyes is now singing South of The Border at random
from my Frankie Files.
The next time The Hasidim knocked on the door, they saw me
dressed like them. (I couldn’t find a yarmulke so I wore a black baseball hat
backwards.)
What came out of my mouth was sound and fury signifying
Oscar Night.
Life sucks wonderfully.
And now The End is near, croons The Chairman of The Bronx
Love you madly, Planet Earth.
Bye.

When we were kids, we fought the way we were taught to fight on The USS
My older brothers, Julio and Victor, did the famous James T
Kirk drop kick on each other while I tried to paralyze them with the Vulcan
Nerve Pinch!
This ‘vast wasteland’ called Television took us where no one
has ever gone before in the wasteland that was The South Bronx as it was a
millennium ago.
After an episode in the Star Trek series, call this chapter
in our childhood Omega Glory.
This TV ship of fools and children includes comic genius
Jonathan Winters who took us to a better place where crazy dreams spring to
life and LOL!

Once upon a time, a bespectacled boy made a wish to live life like a Great American Novel, one that would read like the sci-fi of a great comic book worthy of The Public Library, his childhood Fortress of Solitude. Just write what you know, advised Ms Raesade, beloved sixth grade English teacher at P.S 161 in The South Bronx.
There are no great stories
without heartache and no refunds for answered prayers.
I’ve become the prisoner of a
kid’s dream aided and abetted by other dreamers.
So be it.
How can I be of service to Planet
Earth?
I can imagine a lot, you know.
